Renewable Solar Momentum: Zelestra Secures Financing for Italian Projects

Date:2026-01-13

Zelestra, a global renewable energy company, has reached a financial close on its first two solar photovoltaic projects in Italy, securing approximately €13 million in green senior debt financing for the 6.5 MWdc Ginosa plant in Puglia and the 9.5 MWdc Bellomo plant in Sicily. The financing, arranged with Italian lender BPER, also benefits from long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Swiss infrastructure group BKW, underscoring strong confidence in project bankability and stable revenue streams. Once operational, these solar plants are expected to reduce around 8,500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually and generate enough clean electricity to power the equivalent of 10,000 Italian homes.

This milestone highlights how solar PV continues to attract institutional finance and strategic partnerships across global markets — from Europe’s established energy landscape to emerging regions with rapidly expanding demand.

In Southeast Asia, solar PV adoption is also accelerating quickly. Governments, developers, and investors are actively deploying both distributed and utility-scale systems to meet climate goals and energy security priorities. The region’s appetite for clean energy solutions, combined with supportive policies and declining technology costs, is creating fertile ground for new projects and technology collaboration.

Against this backdrop, we are looking forward to ASEAN Solar PV & Energy Storage Expo 2026 (March 25–27, 2026, IMPACT Exhibition Center, Bangkok, Thailand) — a dedicated platform for solar and storage stakeholders across Southeast Asia and beyond. The event brings together industry leaders, project developers, EPCs, investors, and solution providers to share insights, explore partnerships, and connect with key decision-makers.

If you are involved in solar PV, storage integration, project development, or clean energy investment, this expo is a timely opportunity to engage with a vibrant regional market and global energy trends.
